Hi Onboard users,

USCIS just announced an update to the Federal Form I-9 on their website. The newest version of the Federal Form I-9 is backdated to have an edition date of January 20, 2025. The only notable change is that the fourth checkbox in Section 1 for immigration or citizenship has been renamed to “An alien authorized to work” from “A noncitizen authorized to work”.

There are also two more minor updates to the description of some List B documents as well as the I9 form instructions.

Please note that the E-Verify integration is not expected to be impacted by this change. Additionally, the changes involving E-Verify+ are not relevant to Onboard customers utilizing the E-Verify integration as E-Verify+ is not currently supported for integration services.

Our team will work on making the I-9 form with the January 20, 2025 edition date available as soon as possible. Once we have a release date, we will make another post in the Community.

Remember that the current Standard I-9 form in Onboard is still valid until the listed expiration date of May 31, 2027. As such, you do not need to make any changes to your existing new hire processing at this time.

Thank you!
