Upcoming Enhancement: Configurable Email Subjects

When the “Configurable Email Subjects” enhancement is release on 10/30/25 to Insight, will the “Subject” field be blanked or will it prepopulate information from the “Name” field?

We have close to 200 email notices setup in Insight. I am hoping the “Subject” field is left blank during the enhancement and let the agencies decide if they want to have it filled with a specific subject.

In UAT I noticed that email notices already having the “Subject” field filled in with some text being pulled from the “Name” field or description.

Odejesus,

I asked this same question back in April and was told that, the subject in the email notices now is defaulting to the job title in the posting, regardless of template we use.  I would like NEOGOV to confirm this has not changed.

I hope it defaults to the job title in the posting and nothing else.

Yes, I hope so too. Have a good day.

If you previously populated the Subject field before it was hidden earlier this year, then it will reappear following the October 30th release.  Currently, you can see in UAT what was set in those fields as of Jan 2025 (when UAT was last refreshed from Production).

If the field is populated, that is what will be used as the subject in future email communications.  If it is blank, then the subject text will follow the current behavior which is to display the job title.

We are seeing subject lines that are populated in UAT, but we have never used a subject line in our notices before. We also want the subject lines to be blank on all of our notices when the release goes into production.

Hi,

Idea sent to add a column in Insight to sort/filter by “Subject”. Since the enhancement has been released it has been time consuming to go through each notice template to verify that the subject line is what our agency wants or to edit and leave it blank.

It would also be helpful to see the Subject details when viewing the notice template under General Information.

Please consider this idea.

We were not prepared for this update and wish there was more communication.

We have 100’s (if not 1000’s) of templates, with subjects that were internal/informal.  I inadvertently sent out notifications this morning that looked unprofessional.  I had no idea about this update, and even if I did I wouldn’t think it would pull a previously hidden field.

Is there a way to preview the title or even change it when you are inside an exam and sending notices?.

When you prepare to send out a notification to a candidate (Send Email Notifications - Review), where you can preview the template and even press “override” to make edits.  I do not see any thing about a title or how to preview/edit it.   The only way I found the title is to go to the Library.

When we’re reconfiguring the subject line in our email templates, will the system recognize and populate fields using the HTML codes (for example, <Position_Title>), or will it display the code as plain text?
