Hi all - We have received a lot of feedback on the updated screens during the beta phase over the last 6+ months and especially in the last few weeks since the April 3rd general release for all customers. As the Product Manager for Insight, I want to post a few notes on this topic.

Where did the feedback button go in Insight?

The intention was always to leave it up for a only couple weeks after April 3rd to get the initial wave of comments since that is when most feedback is typically offered from past experience. We received over 600 comments through this tool, and over 400 just since that release. We could leave it up longer, but honestly that’s a healthy sample size to see the trends and they don’t tend to change a lot after a certain point.

What if I still want to give feedback?

You are welcome to post it here in the Community on an ongoing basis. I actively monitor this forum, and the comments here generally align so far with the feedback survey results from the Insight button. You are also always welcome to email me directly (aprice@neogov.net) to share your opinions and suggestions. And if you ever want to meet to walk me through your process and any pain points, I’m open to that too.

What is the feedback showing so far?

These are the most common themes...

When reviewing candidates on the new application screen to enter disposition:

  • The new layout is too spread out and requires too much scrolling and clicking and overall is slowing you down.
  • You prefer to see Education listed above Work Experience.
  • When clicking the Save & Next button to get to the next candidate, you have to scroll back to the top each time.
  • You miss the Save & Previous option, and also just a Save button (without Next or Previous) so can stay on current candidate.

Printing apps from the master profile, especially when you actually want to print them on paper:

  • Requires too much paper, often twice as much as before.
  • Format is harder to scan and too spaced out (which, back to first bullet, takes more paper).
  • Clumsy page breaks where text is cut off.

Exam plan detail screen, to include view the list of applicants in each evaluation step:

  • The new layout is too spread out and prefer the more compact previous view.
  • You would like to be able to define a default number of applicants per page in the table and have that preserved for future visits.
  • You miss the alphabetic filter at the top of the step to select a letter.
  • When selecting candidates for a bulk action (eg send email, SME, etc), it takes longer to find the value in the list (like the template if sending an email) without search shortcuts.

Viewing notice history:

  • The columns are too wide and causing too much horizontal scrolling every time.

If you submitted other feedback not listed above, it is still appreciated and being considered. I just wanted to share a summary of what we’re hearing the most.

OK, so what happens next?

We can’t do everything at once, but we will start to incrementally address these concerns. Some are smaller (quicker to build), and others are not. But it’s a priority for us to act on this input to continuously improve. We appreciate your patience and your continued feedback. Thanks.

Hi @aprice2   Thanks for sharing this update.

@aprice2 Is there a timeline as to when we will see changes based on feedback?

Hi Jennifer - Thanks for reaching out. Will be talking more about this in the Summer release enablement webinar (registration info coming on that soon) and will also post in release notes, but I’m happy to give a preview.

Released last night:

  • Addressed a frequently mentioned issue for reviewing apps...when scrolling down to view one app and then advancing to the next, it now resets to the top of the next app rather than having to scroll back up each time. Because this was considered more of a bug fix than a new enhancement, it went in the monthly maintenance release rather than waiting till the next quarterly enhancements release.

Planned for quarterly Summer release (July):

  • Reversing sections order on app to display Education above Work Experience as that was the overwhelming preference in feedback.
  • When entering a disposition on the app, the only save option was Save & Next, which forced you to view the next app each time. Adding options for Save & Previous, and Save (and stay on current app).
  • When printing with the button on the app, will generate the same compact output you get when downloading an app from the Print Apps feature. It’s much less scrolling when viewing online and about half as much paper when printing out. Plus it should be a consistent app view when printing from different spots in Insight.

Tentatively Planned for quarterly Fall release (October)...”tentatively” because priorities can evolve as get more ongoing feedback:

  • Revisiting the design of the app details screen to reduce white space and scrolling. This includes usability improvements to the disposition panel.
  • On View Apps by Step on an exam plan, searching for an applicant across all steps without having to hunt through each one.
  • On View Apps by Step, if you are on page 3 of a list, select an app to review, and then go back to the list, it drops you back on page 1. Updating to return you to the page you left, and retain the items per page if you changed from the default 20.
  • When printing an app, further improve the output to make it as readable and efficient (few pages) as possible.
  • When clicking the View Results link on an eval step, you get lists for Candidates Passed and Candidates Failed. Adding the ability to search/filter those lists to easily find someone.
  • In notice templates, adding the ability to define the email subject (it is currently hard coded as the job title and cannot be changed).
  • When viewing notices sent to someone, reformatting the page so don’t have to scroll far to the right every time to get the View link.
  • When viewing notices sent to someone, also display if any attachments were sent.

Thanks.

Thank you for this information.  Will the output of the printed batch applications also be fixed to print in alpha order instead of submitted date?  This seems like a bug also.  Batches always printed in alpha order prior to all this.

Hi Jennifer - I’ll email you outside of Community because I’d like to get some more specifics on the batch printing issue so I can clarify a couple things. But yes, if there’s a bug, I’ll ensure it’s prioritized.
