Start, End, Cost Center Fields on Employee Timesheets Now Support View Only Security Setup

Security settings can be configured to allow for view only in addition to the current mandatory and no-view options on Start Dates, End Dates and Cost Center fields on Employee Timesheets. Employees cannot edit the fields that have been set as view only.

Prerequisite Setup

Contact your NEOGOV implementation consultant or customer service for setup.

Value

Some clients require employees to clock in/out and require them to update the cost center on their timesheet. However the administrators do not want these same employees to be able to edit the start and end times. These settings provide that additional configurability.

Audience

Administrators.

Scenario When Issue Encountered

Issue Resolved

You could assign clock cards only to active employees, creating frustration for administrators who could not set up employees with a clock card until their hire date. This meant new employees were not able to clock in on their first day. Employees are able to assign clock cards to future hire employees and the employees are able to clock in on their first day.
Certain time entries would show as duplicated on the timesheet. These duplicates did not impact timesheet totals, reporting, or data transferring to payroll. The issue was sporadic and only visual. Updated the process that returns the same timesheet entry twice due to a slight difference in two fields it is referencing. Should no longer see this issue.
Timesheet entry allowed a start or end time to be entered and saved without the corresponding entry. Entry of start/end times directly on the timesheet should always have a pairing. The user will be alerted and the record will not be saved until both entries are present.
